With several days to go the Tessar 50mm f2.8 lens has been bid up to £15.50 by someone in Thailand. I really can't understand why these old lenses do so well, or why so many go to Asian customers, they're OK but not brilliant and entirely manual. But I'm sure as hell not going to complain...

There's old German stuff that most people would view as collectable, like Leicas or Rolleiflexes. This Tessar is a 60s or 70s manufactured version of a lens design that dates back to the 1930s.

For someone to whom the 1970s are history, and has the urge to collect, this kind of equipment might satisfy the urge at low cost relative to the pre-war kit.

I suppose so - and it's possible that it has a role as an expendable reasonably good lens; I was thinking about this tonight, and drone photography came to mind as one possible use.

Klono always seems like he could be a Lovecraftian entity.

It's a real shame I can't put one of my old articles on line, a write-up of the religion for GURPS Lensman. Unfortunately it's only available by buying old Pyramid magazines from Steve Jackson Games.

It's interesting that you're found a niche. I've gathered a few old cameras, One is a 35MM
Canon and the second is an ancient Kodak box camera. It is larger than 35MM, so takes nice landscapes. A modern film can be adapted to work. I have the original manual, and flash pictures were taken by burning flash paper.

It's weird - but if I can make a modest profit I'm not going to complain.
