Subject:Two more Bundle offers - Champions RPG
Time:08:30 pm
Another TWO bundle offers for one of my favourite RPGs, Champions (fifth edition) - the definitive superhero game and possibly the best (though GURPS fans would probably disagree, and the DC and Marvel systems have loyal followings). One is the basic game plus some useful supplements, more if you go for the bonus items; the other is some "ultimate" add-ons. I'll keep them separated below to make things clearer:

Champions 5E Bundle

https://bundleofholding.com/presents/ChampionsFifth

"The HERO System was introduced over 30 years ago in the first edition of one of the first superhero RPGs, Champions (1981). Designed by George Mac Donald, Steve Peterson, and Ray Greer, the Champions system grew beyond its roots into modern-day espionage, pulp action, fantasy, science fiction, giant robots, and more, eventually emerging as the all-encompassing HERO System. Still one of the most flexible rules frameworks in the hobby, HERO is also one of the best supported.

In November 2013 we presented a large and popular collection featuring the current (Sixth Edition) Hero line. The Sixth Edition, released in 2009, was well received and remains popular, but it made changes that, for the first time in Hero's three-decade history, introduced important incompatibilities with previous editions. The Fifth Revised "FRED" edition in this bundle, published in 2004, is the last version that plays (almost) seamlessly with every previous edition back to the original 1981 Champions.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their ereaders.

Ten percent of each purchase (after gateway fees) goes to this offer's designated charity, Heifer International.

The total retail value of the titles in this offer is US$125. Customers who pay just $19.95 get all five titles in this offer's Starter Collection (retail value $60) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks:
  • Hero System Fifth Edition Revised rulebook (retail price $17): The unmatchably comprehensive 569-page compendium of the Fifth Edition rules.
  • Hero System Sidekick (retail $7): The essential Hero rules condensed into a 128-page book -- a great way to learn the system.
  • Champions Fifth Edition genre sourcebook (retail $22): A thorough exploration of superhero stories, written by the late Aaron Allston (Strike Force).
  • Champions Universe for Fifth Edition (retail $9): One of the most thorough and wide-ranging campaign settings for any superhero RPG.
  • Hero System Resource Kit (retail $5): A handy collection of charts and maps.
Those who pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with nine more titles (retail value $65):
  • Conquerors, Killers, and Crooks (retail $9): Nearly 100 ready-made supervillains and villain teams.
  • VIPER: Coils of the Serpent (retail $9): The hands-down best treatment of the original Champions villain organization.
  • Millennium City (retail $11): An ideal campaign city, a glittering high-tech metropolis built on the ruins of Detroit.
  • Champions Battlegrounds (retail $9): Five scenarios (with reusable maps!) set in a park, construction site, carnival, and other often-seen fight sites.
  • Everyman (retail $9): A terrific collection of normal non-powered NPCs to flesh out your campaign.
  • Stronghold (retail $11): The Fifth-Edition update of the original Champions super-prison and the villainous inmates just waiting to escape.
  • Millennium City University (retail $2), Stronghold Files Volume 1 (retail $2), and Tablets of Destiny (retail $3): Three small "Hero Plus" files with new characters, setting details, and an adventure.
There don't appear to be any surprise extras for this collection.

Ultimate Champions

https://bundleofholding.com/presents/UltimateChampions

"The "Ultimate" books are exhaustive treatises of individual superhero archetypes: speedster, energy projector, mentalist, martial artist, brick, and so on.

The total retail value of the titles in this offer at launch is US$99. Customers who pay just $14.95 get all four titles in our Starter Collection (retail value $41) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks:
  • The Ultimate Mentalist for Fifth Edition (retail price $11): The powers of the mind in comics, fantasy, horror, and more.
  • The Ultimate Energy Projector (retail $11): How to focus everything from heat vision to fireballs to Saturnian blasters.
  • The Ultimate Brick (retail $8.50): The big goons who throw tanker trucks.
  • The Ultimate Vehicle (retail $10.50): A spectacularly useful catalog of conveyances and all the important rules, including vehicles as characters.
Those who pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $19.95 to start, also get our entire Bonus Collection with five more titles (retail value $59):
  • The Ultimate Martial Artist for Fifth Edition (retail $16):A 195-page treatise of every existing martial art plus rules for creating new ones.
  • The Ultimate Metamorph (retail $11): Shapeshifters and mutants in every genre.
  • The Ultimate Skill (retail $11): The authoritative 400-page treatment of Fifth Edition HERO System skills. Available in .PDF only in this offer and nowhere else.
  • The Ultimate Speedster (retail $9.50): Hit the Speed Zone to become the Fastest Hero Alive.
  • Hero System Vehicle Sourcebook for Fifth Edition (retail $10.50): Hundreds of example vehicles of every kind, all built using The Ultimate Vehicle.
Again, there aren't any surprise extras planned at present, but there is a slight possibility that another book will be added if the distributor can come to an agreement with the publisher - at the moment this isn't at all certain, but keep watching; If it is added anyone who gets the bonus collection will also receive the extra title.

As you might guess from the introduction, I'm very interested in these offers - some of this stuff I have in earlier editions, a lot I don't. It looks to be pretty good value, you're getting some VERY large books fairly cheaply, and as I said it's a classic RPG, and probably the definitive superhero RPG.

Disclaimer: As usual I have to stress that I get this stuff free, if I was paying for it I might not be so keen, so your mileage may vary!

Well yes, that's the problem isn't it. For me at least. Finding a regular gaming group.

I second the vote for Champions as the definitive superhero RPG. The only reason I'm not going for these bundles are that I already have all the 5E stuff I want!

It's not the fastest playing or easiest to pick up, but it was the first that actually worked as a system, and a hell of a lot better than most of its competitors.

Yes, I think 5E was my favourite version, too. I don't quite have *all* the stuff in this bundle but I'm pretty close.

You have put the wrong link in the Ultimate one, it takes us to the free download page not the buy it page...
