Fading Suns is one of the better SF RPGs, with a sixth millennium setting where the stars have begun to die. Basically, Dark Ages in Spaaaace...! I have the first edition rules in dead tree format, thought it was interesting but never got round to following up on it, so this offer interests me:
This offer is a follow-up, and correction, to the January Fading Suns Bundle. That offer promised the Fading Suns Revised Second Edition rulebook (2009) from RedBrick Limited; instead we mistakenly provided the Revised rulebook (2012) from FASA Games. Oops. This all-new sequel collection really, truly includes RedBrick's 2E Revised rules (this time we mean it), plus a galaxy of supplements.
It is the dawn of the sixth millennium and the skies are darkening, for the suns themselves are fading. Humans reached the stars long ago, building a Republic of high technology and universal emancipation -- and then squandered it, fought over it, and finally lost it. A new Dark Age has descended on humanity, for the greatest of civilizations has fallen and even the stars die. Now feudal lords rules the Known Worlds, vying for power with fanatic priests and scheming guilds.
Originally published by Holistic Design, Fading Suns later moved to RedBrick Limited, then FASA Games. In November 2016 the German gaming company Ulisses Spiele GmbH took over publishing the Fading Suns RPG line.
We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their ereaders.
Ten percent of each purchase (after gateway fees) is split evenly between the two charities chosen by Fading Suns publisher Ulisses Spiele: Doctors Without Borders and Bärenherz, a local home for terminally ill children in Wiesbaden, Germany.
The total retail value of the titles in this offer at launch is US$116. Customers who pay just US$14.95 get all four titles in our Starter Collection (retail value $57) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks -- the 2E Revised rules (retail price $20) and also the Fading Suns d20 System rulebook (retail $12), the Players Companion (retail $12), and the technology sourcebook Arcane Tech (retail $13).
Those who pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, also get our entire Bonus Collection with six more titles worth an additional $59:
- Legions of the Empire (retail $10): The armies and navies of the sixth millennium, and the places where they battle.
- Aliens & Deviltry (retail $10): Two classic supplements -- Children of the Gods (about the Obun and Ukar alien races) and The Dark Between the Stars (supernatural entities and forces).
- Two "Secret Societies" sourcebooks: Spies & Revolutionaries (retail $10) and Heretics & Outsiders (retail $9) -- guides to shadowy groups across the Known Worlds.
- Sinners & Saints (retail $8): A gallery of nonplayer characters from nobles and priests to pirates and pets.
- Church Fiefs (retail $12): The worldbook devoted to the holdings of the Church of the Celestial Sun.
At least one more title will be added after launch. When a title is added after launch, ALL customers who previously purchased the bundle automatically receive the newly added title, REGARDLESS of whether or not they paid more than average. This is their reward for buying early.
Again quoting myself from last time: This is one that interests me, and I think it's a pretty good deal, but as usual I have to point out that I get this stuff free if I want it; your mileage may vary!
