I had to go out to the shops earlier and the police have put heavy steel barriers across the road at the junction of Queensway and Westbourne Park Road, presumably to prevent a truck attack. Queensway was really crowded, not quite bad enough to trigger my phobias but close, and due to the street closures affecting deliveries nobody had any toilet paper at a reasonable price - fortunately one of the stores just outside the zone did. It's not the first thing you think of when there's something like a carnival, but I suspect that someone in Superdrug will be getting a bollocking for failing to stock up beforehand.
So far I haven't heard of anything too bad happening - most of the medical emergencies have apparently been down to the heat, it's a very warm day, rather than violence. No doubt there will be a few incidents, but hopefully it'll go down as a success.
