Two more RPG bundle offers - Rifts

Another repeated bundle, and another new one, for the Rifts RPG of inter-dimensional carnage:

Rifts Essentials

https://bundleofholding.com/presents/RiftsEssentials2020

This is the third revival of the July 2017 Rifts Essentials offer featuring Kevin Siembieda's Rifts from Palladium Books. This revival has a new companion, the Rifts Minion War Bundle, featuring the Megaversal crossover saga of demonic annihilation on Rifts Earth and beyond.

Rifts
is set on a future Earth shattered by countless otherworldly invasions. This Essentials collection gives players and Game Masters the core books for a campaign of mind-blowing, dimension-spanning adventure.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their devices.

Ten percent of each payment for these two Rifts offers (after gateway fees) goes to the charity designated by Palladium Books, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

As before, the total retail value of the titles in this revived offer is US$79. Customers who pay just US$8.95 get all three titles in this offer's Starter Collection (retail value $33.50) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the complete 384-page Rifts Ultimate Edition™ (retail price $20), plus the Rifts Primer (retail $3) and the very popular Rifts Sourcebook One™ Revised Edition (retail $10.50).

Those who pay more than this offer's threshold (average) price, which is set at $19.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with three more titles worth an additional $32, including the Game Master Guide (retail $13.50), a 360-page equipment collection; the Book of Magic™ (retail $13.50); and the Game Master Kit (retail $5) with useful play aids and pregenerated characters.

Rifts Minion War

This Rifts Minion War Bundle, with the complete Megaversal crossover saga of demonic annihilation on Rifts Earth and beyond, is a new companion to our revived July 2017 Rifts Essentials Bundle now in progress. (If you're new to the game, start there.

The demons of Hades plan dimensional conquest of their arch-rivals in the Hell known as Dyval. After an incursion into the setting of Palladium's Heroes Unlimited superheroic RPG, the Minion War spills onto Rifts Earth, and the epicenter of the invasion is North America. Hellspawned armies by the tens of thousands cross the dimensional divide, unleashing plagues, seeking out magic artifacts, and building Hell Pits so they can unleash Hell on battleground Earth.

Unusually in Palladium history, the Minion War product line supports many of the company's game lines. The five-supplement sequence ultimately lets Rifts player groups create mixed parties of characters who would otherwise be ideologically opposed, but are now fighting side-by-side for the greater good. For the first time in history, the Coalition States, Northern Gun, the Manistique Imperium, Lazlo, New Lazlo, the Cyber-Knights, Lemurians, Free Quebec, D-Bees, mages, and many others stand together against a common enemy. Meanwhile, the Splugorth of Atlantis, Archie Three, and the Vanguard engage in their own shadow war against the invading demon hordes -- and each other.

The total retail value of the titles in this offer is US$129.50. Customers who pay just US$14.95 get all six titles in this offer's Starter Collection (retail value $66.50) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the Dimension Book pair Hades, Pits of Hell and Dyval, Hell Unleashed (retail $12.50 apiece), (plus the Hades & Dyval Map Pack, retail $6); Dimensional Outbreak (previously presented in the April 2019 Phase World Bundle); Armageddon Unlimited (previously in the February 2018 Heroes Unlimited Bundle); and the climax of the sequence, Megaverse in Flames (retail $12.50).

Those who pay more than this offer's threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with six more titles worth an additional $63.50, including Rifts Conversion Book One (Revised) and Conversion Book Two: Pantheons of the Megaverse (retail $12.50 apiece); the first Dimension Book, Wormwood (retail $10.50); the Coalition States character sourcebook Heroes of Humanity (retail $11); and two more sourcebooks repeated from the Phase World offer, Heroes of the Megaverse and Naruni Wave 2 (retail $8.50 apiece).

Last time the Essentials bundle was offered, last year, I said:

Back in 2017 I said "I'll be honest - I own some of this system in dead tree format but I was never really that interested in the setting, and found it a bit rules-heavy. Having said that, it's one of the first true multi-genre RPG systems, and its take on putting the genres together is unusual, although not one I'd really want to run. As usual your mileage may vary."

Since then the original bundle has been re-released three times. Today I really don't have much to add. Basically, this is a twenty-nine year old system, and one that a lot of GMs thought was pretty clunky even then."

Unfortunately I don't really feel that anything has changed - they're adding another interdimensional war to a game that's already full of interdimensional wars, and there still isn't anything much for characters to do if they don't fancy being big damn heroes (AKA canon fodder) in endless interdimensional wars. I really can't recommend either unless you're already a Rifts completist.
