Another two RPG bundle offers - Coliolis / Tales from the Loop

Two bundles based on the Swedish RPGs Coriolis and Tales from the Loop - one is a repeat, the other all new.

Coriolis & Loop

Coriolis roleplaying game rulebook"Revived from November 2018, this is one of two offers now in progress featuring RPGs from Sweden's Free League Publishing. These offers present English-language .PDF ebooks of Tales From the Loop (about 1980s teens solving mad-science mysteries a la Stranger Things) and Coriolis - The Third Horizon (an Arabian Nights-style space opera). Both RPGs adapt the "Year Zero" dice-pool system from Free League's 2014 post-apocalypse RPG Mutant: Year Zero, later seen in Forbidden Lands.

This revived Coriolis & Tales From the Loop Bundle has the core rulebooks and early supplements. If you're new to the game, start here. The all-new companion offer, Coriolis-Loop 2, adds recent supplements and scenarios for both games.

Coriolis is set in a remote cluster of star systems called The Third Horizon, a place ravaged by conflicts and war, but also home to proud civilizations, both new and old. Here the "First Come" colonists of old worship the Icons, even as the newly arrived Zenithians pursue an aggressive imperialistic agenda through trade and military power.

Inspired by the paintings of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, Tales From the Loop casts the players as Kids in the 1980s -- the Bookworm, the Troublemaker, the Popular Kid, the Weirdo -- who endure nagging parents, never-ending homework, and classroom bullies while investigating the mad-science Mysteries of the strange machines and weird creatures that have haunted the countryside since the Loop was built. The rulebook presents settings in both Sweden and the US.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their devices.

Ten percent of each purchase (after gateway fees) goes to these two Coriolis-Loop offers' pandemic-related charity, Direct Relief. Direct Relief gets protective gear and critical care medications to health workers, with emergency deliveries to medical facilities across the US and to regional response agencies across the world.

Tales From the Loop roleplaying game rulebookThe total retail value of the titles in this revival is US$95. Customers who pay just US$12.95 get all six titles in this revived offer's Starter Collection (retail value $45) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the Coriolis - The Third Horizon core rulebook (retail price $25), the Coriolis Atlas Compendium setting sourcebook (retail $9), and four Coriolis supplements (retail $8 apiece): Aram's Ravine, Artifacts & Faction Tech, Hamurabi, and The Mahanji Oasis.

Those who pay more than this revival's threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with four more titles worth an additional $50, including the complete Tales From the Loop core rulebook (retail $25) and its first supplement, Our Friends the Machines & Other Mysteries (retail $15); the full-length Coriolis adventure The Dying Ship (retail $10); and the Coriolis Gamemaster Screen, previously a Kickstarter exclusive and not available for sale anywhere outside this offer.

Coriolis-Loop 2

Coriolis The Third Horizon - Emissary Lost"This is one of two offers now in progress featuring RPGs from Free League Publishing that use the "Year Zero" dice-pool system introduced in Mutant Year Zero (2014) and seen later in Forbidden Lands. This Coriolis-Loop Bundle 2 is a new companion to our revived November 2018 Coriolis & Tales From the Loop Bundle now in progress. If you're new to these games -- Tales From the Loop (about 1980s teens solving mad-science mysteries a la Stranger Things) and Coriolis - The Third Horizon (an Arabian Nights-style space opera) -- start there.

Of Free League's two dozen popular Kickstarters, February's US$2M smash-hit campaign for The One Ring Second Edition overshadows all. But the Year Zero games also show prominently in the rankings. Things From the Flood (September 2018) recasts the 1980s Kids of Tales From the Loop as Teens in the 1990s, a decade of higher stakes, dark changes, and disaster. And the March 2018 Emissary Lost campaign kicks off the central story of the Third Horizon: Mercy of the Icons, an ambitious campaign described as "The Enemy Within of Coriolis." This new Coriolis-Loop 2 Bundle presents both these major releases and more.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their devices.

Ten percent of each purchase of these two offers (after gateway fees) goes to their pandemic-related charity, Direct Relief. Direct Relief gets protective gear and critical care medications to health workers, with emergency deliveries to medical facilities across the US and to regional response agencies across the world.

Things From the Flood roleplaying game rulebookThe total retail value of the titles in this offer is US$95. Customers who pay just US$14.95 get all four supplements and adventures in this offer's Coriolis Collection (retail value $50) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including Emissary Lost (retail price $20), the first part of the epic Mercy of the Icons campaign; The Last Voyage of the Ghazali (retail $10), a lead-in to the Mercy campaign; the location sourcebook Aram's Secret (retail $10); and the Coriolis Scenario Compendium 1 (retail $10) with three short scenarios. (The Compendium also reprints The Mahanji Oasis, a scenario location included in the Starter Collection of the Coriolis & Tales From the Loop Bundle.)

Those who pay more than this offer's threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Loop Collection with three more titles worth an additional $45, including the complete standalone Things From the Flood core rulebook (retail $25) that updates the Loop setting to the 1990s; the Tales From the Loop scenario collection Out of Time (retail price $15); and the Tales from the Loop RPG Starter Set (retail $5).

When the first of these bundles was originally offered I said

These both look a lot of fun, and the artwork and presentation are very good indeed. Coriolis has echoes of Dune and other settings that avoid the usual Western-centric SF ethos, Tales from the Loop is a game of weird technological miracles as seen through the eyes of a group of kids trying to cope with the problems they create - think Scooby-Doo with robots and strange matter. They're both fairly recent games, so this offer is a good way to get a flying start at a very reasonable price. Recommended, subject to all the usual YMMV disclaimers.

Later - having looked at Tales from the Loop a little more, I think better models than Scooby-Doo are Eureka or Roadside Picnic, or a mixture of all three.

Two years on I don't see much to change here - these are very popular RPGs, and deservedly so.
