Peter O'Donnell, the creator of Modesty Blaise, has passed away peacefully at 90.
I loved his early books and liked most of his later works, and the strips were almost unfailingly intelligent. I wasn't a huge fan of his politics, which never really got out of the cold war, but in most other respects he was one of my favourite authors.
I'm wondering if there will be a sudden flurry of interest, if Tarantino will finally make the MB film he was allegedly thinking about, etc. etc. and praying that his estate don't sell off the rights in the manner of the James Bond franchise, with endless crappy novels.
