Rain, and another Buffyverse / Batman Drabble

I've spent most of the last five days decorating a tiny landing outside my bedroom so that I can put shelves there and move a few hundred RPG games etc. out of my workroom. Finished assembling the shelving yesterday, and stated to take up boxes today. It was about the fourth trip that a torrential thunderstorm started.

Up to this point I hadn't thought much about the fact that one of the shelf units was next to a window, which is open most of the time in summer, since without it the bedroom gets pretty stuffy. What I hadn't quite realised is that if the window is open in heavy rain it splashes in. I'd never really noticed before because that area was full of old junk, including dust sheets and some old carpet which must have soaked up the rain. Needless to say there is no way to be sure that I'll be around to shut the window every time there's a thunderstorm, so I'm going to have to abandon the idea of putting book shelves so close.

Fortunately I had the books in plastic boxes, so it didn't take too long to move them out of the danger zone. To cut a long story short, I've now removed that shelving unit, added its top shelf to the one that's okay, and moved the rest to my bedroom. It's not ideal, since my bedroom already has four sets of shelves, but I can make it work if I throw out enough junk.

After I'd done that the rain had stopped and I took the opportunity to nip out for some bread etc. Coming back the thunderstorm started again and I got completely drenched.

And that's why I was able to write the fourth story of this series tonight - I had plenty of time to think while I was kicking myself for missing the bleeding obvious...

Fourth Possibility

"Might as well come out," says Angel, "I know you're there."

Batman hesitates, then steps into the light. Most people seeing him are scared; Angel looks mildly surprised.

"What brings you to LA?"

"Don't you know?"

"You first."

"I think the Joker's using subliminal signals to hurt children."

"That's kinda why I'm here, but I don't think it's the Joker."

"What then? A foreign power? Aliens?"

"My guess is it's demons."

"I'm pretty sure. Some kinda evil magic anyway. Somewhere in that direction." He heads towards a door.

Batman shrugs and follows him into a blast of blinding light.

I'll post to archives in a couple of hours if nobody spots any problems; I'm a lot happier with this than I was with the original chapter I've replaced today. Comments, as always, very welcome.
